CLARUS SYSTEMS ANNOUNCES ADDITIONAL FUNDING LED BY TRIDENT CAPITAL
$10 Million Series B Funding Reinforces Momentum of Assurance and Implementation Solutions for Enterprise IP Communications
SAN FRANCISCO, June 14, 2004 - Clarus Systems Inc., the leading provider of automated testing solutions for IP Telephony systems, today announced that it has received $10 million in Series B funding led by Trident Capital, with participation from Trinity Ventures, Mobius Venture Capital and other existing investors. With this funding, Clarus plans continued expansion of its engineering, sales, marketing and channel development efforts.
"Enterprise voice networks are being migrated to IP Telephony platforms to both drive down costs and increase business productivity. The result - a new platform for business-critical communications - creates an immediate need for the highest levels of service," said Keith Giarman, chief executive officer and president of Clarus Systems. "Given the strong customer interest in our automated testing solutions for IP Communication systems, and our excellent working relationship with Cisco Systems in supporting implementation of Cisco-based IP Telephony systems, it made sense to close our Series B funding well ahead of our cash requirements," he said.
Clarus Systems' products automate the testing of IP Telephony systems, helping both network integrators who need to test and certify new installations and Global 2000 customers who need to assure the ongoing operation of Cisco-based IP Telephony systems. Unlike network management products that track and troubleshoot IP traffic - both voice and data - on the network, Clarus Systems' products assure that the functional capabilities of an IP Telephony system are working properly. The company also received $8.85 million in Series A funding led by Trinity Ventures and Mobius Venture Capital in 2003.
As part of its continued expansion, Clarus Systems recently announced several new initiatives and developments:
- In April, Clarus Systems became a member of the Micromuse Alliance ProgramT, offering an integrated solution to certify the availability and performance of telephones across IP Telephony deployments, test the end-user's communication experience, and monitor underlying network resources.
- Richard Whitehead was promoted to chief technology officer, and Robert Bond joined the Clarus board of directors.
- Richard Southwick joined the management team as vice president of engineering.
